Eagle Rock – Lake Tahoe

Eagle Rock is a really cool lookout with a easy hike located on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. Chelsea and Leilani joined me in the late summer for a hike up the beast. I shot a few photographs on my Hasselblad 500C/M just for fun. No tripod, no thought, just snaps.

New Buys: Polaroid Land Camera 340

Olivia Arden

I found a Land Camera for sale on craigslist.com. I didn’t know anything about the camera when I bought it. Not even how to extend the bellows. What I found out was my $20 purchase was in MINT condition and included every accessory in the book.

Winter In Summer: Travis Kennedy

Travis Kennedy

I spent a few days this winter shooting with the Tahoe FODT crew. I never thought I would hang with these guys but I ended up having a blast. Travis is much more of a funny man then I had ever imagined. Cracking jokes all day while pulling off tricks with classic smooth style.

Image was shot on a Canon EOS 1D Mark III with Canon EF 24-70mm F/2.8L USM Lens. Exposure was 1/320 sec at f/3.5 ISO 100.

On the Roof

More images of Olivia Arden. I know you guys don’t like looking at girls as much as they do guys on snowboards. My web views have been down. But I need to clean out Lightroom and get my stuff online. Don’t worry there will be more Winter in Summer posts once I finish up submissions to one last magazine. If this was a snowboard shot I would pick my favorite and only show it. Because it’s not I have no idea which is the best so now you get it all. All shot on a Canon EOS 1D Mark III with Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM.

Winter in Summer: Stowe, VT

The following took place between December 30th, 2009 and January 3rd, 2010.
5x Lucky

During the winter of 07/08 I lived in Stowe, VT and worked as Photo Editor at East Coast Snowboarding Magazine. My home mountain for that year was Stowe Mountain Resort and I fell in love with it’s woods and backcountry riding. Fast forward to the early winter of 2010 as Justin Mullen, Mike Bennett and myself are packed into Mike’s jeep on our way to Stowe.

Front & Back

By dusk we were deep into New York, heading north and took a quick moment to stop and stretch our legs. Once back on the road we continued north until we came to Crown Point, New York where the Lake Champlain Bridge used to stand. We were unaware that only days earlier the bridge had been demolished. This caused a two hour detour in our trip as we had to backtrack around the 110 mile long lake. Once on the other side it was a straight shot to my friend and our guide for the trip Pat Walsh’s house.

Lead by Pat Walsh a Stowe local who has been living in the town for 15 years. Day one started with a deep hike into the Notch of Stowe. Pat pointed out a steep section of the slope that would provide a good vantage point for some shots. Everyone took a slash in front of the camera and road down into the valley. Next up was a good sized cliff that required a dead eye aim to avoid all of the small trees in the landing. Both Justin and Mike landed tricks and avoided being impaled. We finished up the day with a fun and mellow ride down through the Notch to the Jeep.

Party Wall

Group
Last weekend I hung out with my buddies we had a great time. During the course of our party we took some photos. Well more like four gigs worth and spent about two hours shooting them all. Needless to say it was the highlight of the night. If you would like the “Party Wall” at your next party hit me up. It’s guaranteed to make the night.

Winter In Summer – A New Series

Since I am not able to keep up with my blog very well during the winter months I though it would be fun to share my photography from my winter during the summer.

October 18, 2009
We had heard it snowed in the Poconos a foot two days earlier and seeing that it was October any excuse to try and snowboard was good enough. Mike Bennett, Doug Usko, and myself loaded up my Subaru forester and made the two hour drive to Camelback. Unfortunately upon our arrival we discover almost all the snow was gone with small patches of unrideable snow being all that remained. Not wanting to make the drive home quite yet we, went to Big Boulder to meet up with Matt Roberge, Luke Henning, and Jayell White.

Big Boulder had a little bit more snow at best, but we decided to hike to the top of the mountain (all 500 vertical feet of it) to see what snow might lie up there. Over halfway up we realized the top would hold nothing more then the bottom and decided to shovel a small landing for a sketchy bomb drop. Mike and Doug both hit the drop, were smashed to bits on the too small landing and over the feature quickly. We hung out talking and laughing for a while before returning to the cars, where we parted ways and all drove home.

Winter was coming soon though…

Yesterday we awoke to two feet of fresh super light mid winter like snow. I went to Castle Peak with my roommates and friends from PA who go to college in Tahoe.
