7 Springs Resort Pennsylvania

Over the weekend Doug Usko, Mike Bennett, Jesse Stoneburger and myself went to 7 Springs Resort to shoot their halfpipe on opening day. I decided to film a bunch of our trip with my new Panasonic LX3, and here is the video result. It is a lot of fun filming with this camera and I hope to make edits like this during the rest of my trips this year.

Stowe, Vermont

I left on wednesday morning for Stowe, Vermont with Justin Mullen and Mike Bennett. We stayed at the house of Stowe guide Pat Walsh. We rode off resort for two days and on resort for two days before leaving on Monday. We were blessed with some fresh snow each day. Here are some videos from the trip that Justin made. Don’t forget to check out my 8 powder turns at 2:19 in the second video.

Drive up and first day.

SBC Resort Guide 2010

Today in the mail came a copy of SBC’s 2010 resort guide and inside were two of my images. A full page shot of Justin Mullen and a spot shot of Nick Poohachoff. I am stoked on both images but very stoked on Justin’s Shot. Last year there was little snowfall all of January and the early part of February. This shot was taken on February 15th during the first storm we had basically had our whole trip. We were so excited to just get out and ride in the powder. We quickly had learned some easy trails through the woods at Northstar and this rock was the first hit. Justin is a powder pig and has some classy style. Hands down a great buddy and one of my favorite people to shoot with. OYA he’s from PA also.

Bonnie Macfarlane

Last thursday I went to Reid Menzer with Bonnie to shoot a large drop in the park. The drop top was at my shoulders and large for anyone to hit let alone a girl.

Playboard Magazine #57 & Transworld Vol 23. December 2009

This image of Nick Poohachoff is my most successful image to date. It has run as the Cover of Playboard Magazine #57 in Germany as well as a full page in Transworld Snowboard Magazine Vol 23. December 2009 issue. Playboard has popped my cover cherry and very big thank you to them for that.

Here is a little background on the shot that I wrote up for Playboard.

The beam that Nick Poohachoff is Frontside Boardsliding is a beam that supports an abandoned train tunnel that runs threw the backcountry know as ASI around Sugar Bowl Resort. Nick set up this jib and tested it all by himself while we were shooting another feature 500 yards away. Had he caught his nose while he was by himself he easily could have fallen and died and we would have had no idea.

ESPN Zoom Gallery

I had an image in the Zoom Gallery on ESPN last month. Here is the link to the gallery and a screen shot of the image.

So far this image has ran 3 times this year. Good thing too because it took me going to this spot 4 days in a row to get it.

Holga Stories

When I originally got back this roll of film in the winter I just about threw it out. It was totally black and I could not see any images in the negative. Luckily I saved it and decided to scan it in just to see if anything would show up. To my surprise when the preview of the scan loaded on my screen there were things to be seen on the negative. My guess as to why the film was black is that I had left the Holga on B and all the images came out overexposed. I had to used a lot of the recovery tool in LR to make these images even look like anything.
